ABA Justice Hack Durham 2018

Participate in the ABA JusticeHack Durham 2018, where you will collaborate in an engaging hack-a-thon environment with diverse teams of community, academic, legal, law enforcement, faith-based, and technology stakeholders. Participants will develop innovative and technology-based solutions to address challenges facing law enforcement and communities of colors.   


Register today for the second annual ABA JusticeHack Durham.  ABA JusticeHack Durham 2018 is free.  All meals and refreshments, including breakfast, lunch, snacks and evening lite bites are complimentary. **Prizes and Judges to be announced soon**


  • 8:00 a.m. - Arrival and Registration
  • 9:00 a.m. - Ideation & Issue Exploration Session
  • 11:30 a.m. - Working lunch and Team Planning
  • 12:15 p.m. - Prototype Development (Issue, Solution, Data Set, Application, Framework, Initial Testing, Deployment Strategy)
  • 4:00 p.m. - Presentation & Judging
  • 5:00 p.m. - Closing & Awards Reception

Technology and I don't get along well.  I'm not software development or programmer.  Can I still participate?

Yes you certainly can! ABA JusticeHack Durham is a community initiated event and our goal is gather diverse participants from all segments of the local community.  If the topic is of interest to you, please join us.

Do you need volunteers? How can I help?

We absolutely need volunteers! You can help with stocking and preparing food, making sure the event is running smoothly, answering questions regarding logistics and so forth. If you would like to volunteer, please get in touch via the Contact Us page.

Do I need a laptop?  

If you have one, please bring it.  A limited number of laptop computers will be available onsite for use by participants and teams who do have access to personal computers.

Who owns the projects?  

The ABA and its partners make no claim to any intellectual property, source code, or applications developed as part of the event. However, this program is premised on the belief that access to information advances access to justice! Accordingly,  all participants must adhere to the ABA JusticeHack Open Source Guidelines and teams are encouraged to make their work and results publicly available.
